What is hackintosh? Hackintosh is simply installing Mac OS on non-apple machine. Let’s get started with hackintosh but first let’s have a bit of knowledge with regulations. Hackintoshing is “Ok?” as long as if you own a Mac or the Mac OS as long as not making business out of it you will be fine.
Creating Bootable Mac OS USB installer
This step will be the same for laptop and desktop. Here we use Olarila, Olarila is home of vanilla. So what is Vanilla? Basically Vanilla use Appstore version of Mac OS with clover bootloader to hackintosh and Olarila provides a better chance of success. Whereas Niresh uses the Appstore version of Mac OS but it has been modified with clover bootloader. Amongst the two, Vanilla is better because of its compatibility. Let’s get started! We’re are aiming with intel processor in this tutorial.
General Bios settings:
You can dual boot with Window and Mac. If you want to install Mac only please go ahead, you can always install another operating system. Installing hackintosh only? Proceed to STEP 4.
Dual Boot
Single Disk
You can boot to USB with window by going to Setting>Update & Security>Recovery> Advance Startup, Click Restart now then you will see this and click on Use a device and select your USB.
You can also boot with boot manager or change boot priority in BIOS and put USB boot the top priority. With a google search you can see which key you need to press for booting into Boot Manager. Example Search, “Lenovo boot manager key”, “Hp boot manager key”, “How to boot into boot manager on HP” …….etc.
For post install please ask for assistance. Ask the person who sent you this or go to the Hackintosh Group. Or go to Olarila.com and read guide for post installation.

- Choose which Mac OS version that will be supported for our desktop or laptop. Newer generation of processor supports newer version of Mac OS, High Sierra or Sierra is a good start for most machine. If you have Nvidia Graphic card only fermi and kepler plates will work and unfortunately for optimus it will not work on any version. Don’t worry lots of the pc has intel integrated graphic. As for AMD GPU only, some series will be compatible with Hackintosh. 4. Here I chose Mojave the latest one, Since I don’t have Nvidia Graphic card or supported AMD.
- Here’s the file we downloaded and the one next to it is after extracted.
- For window we can use etcher or win32diskimager. As for Mac we can use etcher. Here we’re going to use etcher.
