DNS Server Basics and Why is it Important
DNS stands for “domain name system.” Domain names are the website addresses you type in when you want to access a website. So, for example, if you want to go to set up an Internet Cafe. Someone told you to research and go to the DIY Internet Cafe website. You type in diyinternetcafe.com or www.diyinternetcafe.com or https://www.diyinternetcafe.com. These will all work, these are the domain names of the greatest source material for everything about internet cafes, ehem.

A lot of people describe DNS servers as the “phone book” or the “Yellow Pages”. When someone types an address (ex. diyinternetcafe.com) into their browser (ex. Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge or Safari), the computer or device reaches out to the DNS server to find out what IP Address (like a Telephone number) is associated with that domain name. It then connects to that IP address and brings you to diyinternetcafe.com.

When you connect via a good third-party DNS server, you’ll usually have more security and protection than if you connect via your default ISP server. That’s because many third party DNS servers have advanced security measures that aren’t implemented yet on the default ones.

Free & Public DNS Servers
Telcos, ICT and Media Companies provide robust DNS to ensure that their sites or hosted sites are always reachable and available. You can ask your ISP (PLDT or Globe) for other DNS IPs if you current DNS is slow or lagging. Our ISP automatically assigns DNS servers when we turn on the Modem or ONU or when the computer connects to the internet via DHCP.

Pero you can set a new DNS server address, just go to this location sa Control Panel. Hanapin nyo yung Internet Protocol Version, then click nyo yung “Use the following DNS server addresses”. Type nyo kung alin gusto nyo na Primary at Secondary address. Pwedeng kahit ano combination, kunwari Google DNS ang primary tapos PLDT DNS ang secondary.
